Across Texas, hundreds of thousands of students attend Title I schools in underserved communities, showing up every day with potential and no roadmap for what their career future could look like. CAMP AHA meets them where they are. We partner with schools in Dallas ISD and Houston ISD where the need is greatest. These remarkable students thrive despite the challenges around them. They deserve to see careers that are possible for someone who looks like them and comes from where they come from.
Did You Know, Dallas?
In Dallas County, incarceration rates are disproportionately high in certain zip codes. An article published by Dallas Observer shared an analysis revealing a troubling trend: just ten zip codes account for over 3,100 prisoners, at a cost of $137 million annually. D Magazine shared a Commit analysis showing how some zip codes have a higher prison population than the combined total of over 70 other Dallas zip codes!

In Houston ISD, more than 78% of students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and roughly 65% are considered at risk of dropping out of school. According to the Texas Tribune, these students show up every day with potential and no clear roadmap for what their career future could look like. They deserve to see careers that are possible for someone who looks like them and comes from where they come from.

Our Schools
CAMP AHA partners with one anchor school per community, connecting each school with nearby universities and local community partners to create a self-contained ecosystem. We grow deliberately, one new school at a time, ensuring every student gets the full impact of the program rather than spreading thin across multiple campuses at once.

Career readiness sessions covering financial literacy, career development, health and wellbeing, and leadership address the knowledge gap between where students are and where they could go. Real conversations with real role models make those topics come alive.

100% of role models reported a positive experience, with a significant number rating it as "great." Their enthusiasm demonstrates their commitment to the students and the communities they serve.

Role models consistently observed high levels of student engagement during sessions. Students were asking questions, making connections, and seeing careers they had never considered before.
A Commitment to Continuous Improvement
We are dedicated to tracking our progress and ensuring our program has a lasting impact. We utilize multiple methods to measure success. Pre- and Post-Program Surveys gather data from students, mentors, and school staff to measure changes in skills, knowledge, and attitudes. In-depth discussions with focus groups are used to gain qualitative feedback from students, mentors, and school staff alike.
